Arrive in Paro and enjoy stunning views of the Himalayas during the flight. Our representative will greet you and take you to your hotel in Thimphu. The scenic drive follows the Paro and Thimphu rivers. Optionally, visit Simtokha Dzong, the oldest fortress in Bhutan. Spend the afternoon exploring Thimphu, and in the evening, visit the majestic Tashichodzong. Overnight in Thimphu.
After breakfast, visit King’s Memorial Chorten, Changgangkha Monastery, the radio tower for a great Thimphu Valley view, and the Takin reserve, home to Bhutan’s national animal. Explore the nunnery temple, National Library, and the School of Arts and Crafts. After lunch, visit the National Institute of Traditional Medicine, a traditional paper factory, the Folk Heritage museum, and the Textile museum. Overnight in Thimphu.
Drive north of Thimphu to hike to Tango Monastery, a Buddhist college. After lunch, hike to Cheri Monastery. Drive to Wangduephodrang via Dochula Pass, enjoying views of the eastern Himalayas. Stop for tea at the pass and admire the scenery. The road to Wangdue winds through pine and rhododendron forests. Overnight in Wangduephodrang.
Drive to Bumthang via Trongsa, crossing Pele La. Visit Trongsa Dzong and Ta Dzong. Continue the drive to Bumthang, the religious heartland. Stop at a yethra (textile weaving) factory. Overnight in Bumthang.
Visit Jakar Dzong, Jambey Lhakhang, and Kurjey Lhakhang. After breakfast, hike to Shukdrag Monastery, a meditation monastery with a sacred cave. The hike is about 1 hour one way. Spend the evening strolling through Bumthang town. Overnight in Bumthang.
Start the day at the Bumthang market. Drive to Wangduephodrang, stroll through the town, and visit shops known for slate and stone carvings. Overnight in Wangduephodrang.
Visit Punakha Dzong, Khamsum Yulephelma Chorten, and Chimi Lakhang. Take a short walk through rice fields to Chimi Lakhang. In the afternoon, drive to Paro. Overnight in Paro.
Witness the Paro festival performed by local people and monks. Families gather in their best dress to witness the festival, which lasts until 3-4 in the afternoon.
Attend the full day of the Paro festival. Get up early to witness the unfurling of the Thongdrol (giant thankas painting of Guru Rinpoche) at Paro Dzong. After the festival, visit Kyichu Lhakhang and ruined Drugyal Dzong. Explore Paro town in the evening. Overnight in Paro.
Hike to Taktsang (Tiger’s Nest) Monastery in the morning, perched on a cliff above Paro Valley. In the afternoon, visit the National Museum and a traditional farmhouse to experience Bhutanese culture. Optionally, enjoy a typical Bhutanese dinner. Overnight in Paro.

The new SDF of US$100 per person per day will become effective from 1 September 2023.
The new SDF shall remain effective for four years until 31 August 2027.
Any guest who already paid the SDF for their upcoming visit to Bhutan is eligible for a refund of the excess SDF amounts paid.
When applying for a visa to enter Bhutan, you will need to pay the SDF. Visas can be applied for at the Department of Tourism’s website.
No, the incentives introduced in June 2023 have been revoked and are no longer applicable. However, the 24-hour SDF waiver for border towns in Bhutan remains valid.
