TRAVEL INFORMATION FOR BHUTAN – INDIAN NATIONALS

For Indians planning to visit Bhutan, obtaining a visa or entry permit is possible upon arrival. Just present a valid passport (with at least 6 months of validity) or your Voter’s Identity Card (VIC) if you’re an Indian national.

If you’re a leisure tourist from India, Bangladesh, or Maldives, you’ll need to pay a reduced tourism fee of Nu: 1,200/ (one thousand two hundred only) per night’s stay, known as the Sustainable Development Fee.

However, this fee doesn’t apply to those visiting for business, construction work, or employment, as per the current rules. The collected sustainable development fee is utilized for providing free education, healthcare, poverty alleviation, and developing infrastructure.

This regulation was implemented on the 11th day of the 5th month of the Iron Male Rat Year, which corresponds to July 1st, 2020.
